Welcome to today’s Mighty Line Minute podcast on ISO compliant safety symbols !
Did you know ShieldMark Inc. is Mighty Line’s U.S. manufacturer, producing the most durable industrial floor tape and floor signs in the industry? How do we know? That’s the consistent feedback received from Mighty Line’s thousands of satisfied customers!
Mighty Line stays up-to-date with national and international safety standards to ensure their products meet your specific needs. Their safety signs support a wide range of initiatives - from 5S organization to regulatory compliance. Staying current with safety standards is vital. That’s why ISO 7010 compliant safety signs are designed for industrial and commercial spaces.
ISO 7010 adhesive-backed floor signs are easy to apply to clean, dry surfaces such as smooth concrete, epoxy, or polyaspartic flooring. They’re used to mark emergency routes, visitor pathways, safety equipment, electrical panels, fire protection gear, door swings, and more.
Green-background ISO signs can be used to indicate “Emergency Telephone,” “Safety Showers,” “Defibrillators,” or “Oxygen” for example. Mighty Line’s ISO safety symbols are designed for quick, universal understanding and easy application. And no lengthy text is required unless you specify it!
ISO Safety Standards are developed by the International Organization for Standardization, based in Geneva, Switzerland, with input from ANSI and other global standards bodies. ISO 7010 colors and symbols are internationally trusted and respected.
There are five main categories of ISO 7010 symbols:
- Prohibition Signs
- Mandatory Action Signs
- Warning Signs
- Safe Condition Signs
- Fire Safety Signs
Here’s further examples beyond the previously-mentioned Safe Condition Signs:
Fire Safety Signs involve a red background. Examples include: “Fire Extinguisher,” “Fire Hose Reel,” “Fire Alarm Pull Station,” and “Fire Emergency Phone.”
Mandatory Action Signs use a blue background. “Hearing Protection,” “Eye Protection,” “Safety Footwear,” “Face Shields,” “Protective Clothing,” and “Respirator Protection” are examples.
Prohibition Signs incorporate a white background with red a “No” circle. They include: “No Smoking,” “No Open Flame,” “No Forklifts,” “No Eating or Drinking,” “No Photography,” etc. And,
Warning Signs use a yellow-orange background with a black-bordered triangle. Examples include: “Laser Beam,” “Biological Hazard,” “Slippery Surface,” “Electricity,” “Forklifts,” “Hot Surface,” and “Flammable Material.”
There are over 300 recognized ISO 7010 symbols. They can be enhanced with short “signal words” such as “FIRST AID,” “EYEWASH STATION,” “NO SMOKING,” or “WARNING: ELECTRICITY.” In such cases, easy readability is key.
Mighty Line produces ISO 7010 compliant floor signs - available with or without signal words - through their trusted distributor network. Contact your distributor to find the signs that best match your facility’s needs.
