The Mighty Line Minute podcast is part of the Safety Stripes Podcast Network, sponsored by Mighty Line floor tape and signs. Hosted by Dave Tabar, episodes air primarily on Mondays and deliver focused, engaging content on workplace safety, operations, and industrial best practices. In addition to safety standards such as OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, ISO, and others, the podcast explores the practical implications of regulatory compliance, risk management, and loss control. Occasional episodes feature unique topics — including music, entertainment, and innovations — “for the good of the order,” offering both insight and inspiration. Follow to stay informed and ahead in safety and beyond.
Another regular segment within the Safety Stripes Network is Warehouse Safety Tips, hosted by Wes Wyatt every Wednesday. These episodes offer practical safety advice and insights tailored to warehouse environments, covering topics such as hearing conservation, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and more.
Both segments of the podcast network are highly practical, offering listeners strategies, expert interviews, and case studies to enhance safety across various work environments. They also align closely with Mighty Line’s product offerings, highlighting the critical role of high-quality safety markings—such as Mighty Line floor tape—in preventing accidents and supporting efficient operations. Exploring a Career in Safety and Health
Welcome to another edition of Mighty Line Minute! We are so pleased to have you aboard! For this edition, Dave asked me to explain the "how" and "why" behind opportunities in the "Safety and Health" field.
More specifically - why you just might think about "Safety and Health" as a rewarding career path. So, let's get started!
First, a career in safety and health offers purpose, personal growth, and the opportunity to make a real difference - both in the workplace and in the world around you.
Professionals in this field help ensure that workers return home safely to their families, friends and loved ones, each and every day. That mission is both meaningful and deeply rewarding.
The safety and health field continues to expand. Advancing technology, evolving global standards and regulations, innovations in AI, design, and ergonomics are all creating new challenges and exciting opportunities.
As a career path, safety and health plays a vital role in protecting lives and supporting well-being in the workplace and beyond.
It is impactful, future-focused, and offers lifelong learning.
Whether you’re starting out or considering a career change, safety and health provides a chance to contribute, lead, and grow professionally.
It also develops skills that are valuable in related fields, including operations, engineering, marketing, healthcare, environmental services, research, AI, and regulatory compliance.
Remember, safety and health is more than just a job - it’s a commitment to people, progress, sustainability, as well as continuous learning. If you’re seeking work that truly matters - and helps make the world a better place - this could be the best career decision you ever make. And here’s the “How”…
Begin by taking courses in safety, health, or environmental topics. Many community colleges and universities offer programs that will help you explore the profession and its varied opportunities.
Follow that by attending local meetings hosted by chapters of national or regional safety and health organizations. In the U.S. these include:
The American Society of Safety Professionals. ASSP has more than 150 local chapters.
They always welcome new attendees, especially students exploring careers in the field. It’s also a great way to build professional connections.
The American Industrial Hygiene Association. AIHA offers dozens of regional and student sections that meet regularly across the country.
The National Safety Council. The NSC hosts national and regional training sessions, safety campaigns, and local educational events. Some of these events involve regional NSC chapters.
There are also many local or state-affiliated safety councils that exist.
For example, the Greater Cleveland Safety Council is affiliated with the Ohio Bureau of Worker’s Compensation. The Society of Fire Protection Engineers and the National Fire Protection Association offer local or regional meetings and educational events focused on fire research, fire protection and prevention, as well as life-safety.
To gain deeper insight into the broad field of safety and health, consider attending the ASSP's annual Professional Development Conference or the AIHA Connect Conference.
These conferences highlight a wide range of opportunities to explore, while establishing future connections. Finally, speak directly with someone working in the field. At Mighty Line, we’re always happy to help you explore safety and health career paths. Just send a note to info@mightylinetape.com and request a call or message from “Dave” - we’ll be sure to connect.
