Greetings, everyone, and welcome to Mighty Line Minute! Here are five ways you, your family, and your friends can reduce the risk of serious injury and potential hospitalization in the days ahead.

Fireworks, including sparklers, should never be handled at home due to their extreme danger. A sparkler’s tip can reach temperatures between 2,000 and 3,000 degrees Farenheit, hot enough to melt certain metals and cause severe burns upon contact with skin. Sparklers account for over 25% of all fireworks-related injuries, with more than half of these incidents involving children under the age of five.

When grilling, ensure safety by positioning the grill far from children, pets and combustible structures. Always inspect gas connections thoroughly and never add liquid fuels to an active fire or heat source.

Drive defensively by obeying speed limits, staying vigilant for impaired drivers, and refraining from driving under the influence yourself.

To stay safe in the heat, drink plenty of water, apply sunscreen, and seek shade or air conditioning during the hottest parts of the day.

At crowded events, avoid overly congested areas and stay alert to your surroundings. Keep your phone charged, set a predetermined meeting point with your group in case of emergencies, and report any suspicious activity to authorities. While prioritizing your own safety, offer help to others if it's safe to do so.
